I bought two front calipers to upgrade the single-pivot side-pulls on my old steel road bike and couldn't be happier. The calipers arms are stiff (i.e. don't flex much) with the pads set at around 57mm reach and brake feel is solid. These are well manufactured parts and the dab of thread locker on the post was a nice touch. Dual-pivot calipers are so much easier to center and adjust compared to my old single-pivots and I kick myself for not upgrading sooner. Installation was smooth using the tips offered by Sheldon (Thanks so much!). I ended up using a 5/16" (7.94mm) drill bit to enlarge the hole in the back of my front forks for the 8.00mm recessed nut...I wiggled the drill around to open up the 5/16" hole to 8.00mm which wasn't too difficult with a sharp bit (but be careful with power tools!). The new rear caliper (I used a second front to get the longer threaded post) went on just fine using the nuts and "half-round" washers/spacers from the old caliper...check for clearance between the arms/frame and don't forget to flip the brake pads around to face forward. My bike currently runs on 27x1-1/4" wheels and the extra reach I now have will allow me to upgrade to 700c wheels sometime in the future. I matched these with the BRL23 Shimano Tiagra "Æro" levers which are also really nice.

Beautiful, quality product. Stopping power equals or exceeds v-brakes. Long reach suitable for converting 27" wheel rides to 700c -- especially if you want to mount some wide cyclocross or city tires on the rims.
