It is generally good practice to replace the chain when you replace the cassette.
We recommend the SRAM PC-59 chain for use with this cassette.
This cassette will index with any Shimano-type 9-speed shifter, but does require a wide-range (touring/mountain) rear derailer.
This cassette will fit any Shimano 9-speed hub.

Comments:
I have two of these now first one I put on my Surly LHT.The sec one I put on my touring/road bicycle I built myself this one has 700c wheels and it is fast.My LHT has 26" wheels on it and I keep it loaded down all the time and it is easy to go up hills with this new setup.I run 26,36,46t chainring on both bicycles and this gives me all I need.I am very happy with both of them.
