Origin-8 (Tektro) Ergo Style Brake Levers for Drop (Road) Handlebars
Made by Tektro under the Origin8 brand, these levers are a lower cost lever set similar to the Cane Creek
These are super brake levers for road bikes, made by Tektro. These low-friction levers have a high mechanical advantage, and can significantly upgrade the braking performance of an older bike without changing the calipers.
They bear a very strong resemblance to Campagnolo Ergo brake/shift levers, only without the shift mechanism.
They're very well made, with resin bodies and cold-forged 6061 aluminum levers, shaped for left/right hand individually.
These levers also include a Campagnolo style quick release button, very handy if you are using them with older calipers that don't incorporate a quick release, or if you are using wide tires that require more clearance than a single quick release can supply.
Note: We buy these Tektro levers from a couple of different suppliers. The levers you receive might have packaging with a different brand name than Origin8, but they are the exact same levers.
I love these levers. I think they look great and feel great in my somewhat large hands (I'm 6'1). I replaced standard shimano (non-brifter) levers with these to get a larger and more comfy grip area. They don't make unnecessary noise, and are completely reliable and excellent. Some people complain about the looks, but I think they look excellent on my 93 Trek 520. I can't say enough good about them. I think they are great. I deliberated heavily, wondering if I should buy a fancier/more expensive lever, but I feel like I got all the quality and comfort I need in one of the cheapest levers available. Unless you have smallish hands, I would not hesitate to give these a try.
