The B17 series is the most popular of Brooks's sporty models. They are an excellent choice for touring, century rides, ultra-marathon rides and other demanding types of cycling. The B17 is most appropriate for cyclists who set their handlebars about the same height as their saddles, or a bit lower.
All of the B17 models feature bag loops to permit the use of a traditional English-style touring bag.

5 years riding rais-to-trails. 1. I have learned the underwear counts. Cotton briefs with seams in the contact region lead to pain. I changed to snug fitting, unpadded, thin polyester briefs with no seams in the contact area, worn under nylon shorts with no seams in the contact area. What I had previously thought of as saddle pain reduced very greatly. 2. Position counts a lot. Work on height, tilt and fore-aft. 3. I waterproof and condition the leather with generic petroleum jelly. It works as well as the proprietary goops but does not oxidize or feed fungi. 4. If I replace the B17, I will try the sprung Flyer. Otherwise the B17is great. 5. Riding position greatly influences saddle choice. Upright = wider.

Bought the b17 saddle for myself to put on my touring bike. I've been riding a bike all my life. Both touring and road bikes. I'm 59 years old. Always thought you just had to get used to the saddle on your bike and would never get really comfortable. Then I put the Brooks saddle on. It was comfortable right out of the box and keeps getting better with time. All the reviews I read were right. It is heavy but it's on a touring bike. You will quickly forgive the weight once you ride the saddle. If you have had trouble finding a saddle you really should give the Brooks b17 a try. I put one on my wife's bike with the same results. She loves it.
