I've had them for 5years, paired with out of production Tektro RL740 cross levers and Deore V-Brakes and KoolStop salmon Supra2 pads. The combination works well. The first third of lever travel takes up the pad-rim gap, the middle third modulates brake pressure and the last third is reserve. The bike has fallen over several times, hitting the left lever. It is scratched, but still completely functional. The hood shape is comfortable when I ride with my hands there. Even though the bicycle marketing gods have decided V-Brakes are passe, I like them. This setup works well, is easy to maintain, isn't expensive and doesn't get in the way of fenders, panniers, heels, or other bikes on the same car rack.
