Sun 27" CR-18 Rims on Sealed Hubs QR Wheelset Freewheel
OUT OF STOCK - NO ETA
Quando sealed cartridge bearing Quick Release hubs, for traditional thread-on Freewheels. 36 DT 2.0 mm (14 g) Stainless Spokes.
630 mm (27 inch) Sun CR-18 rims. Strong, general purpose rim. Drilled for presta valve tube.
These wheelsets are excellent for upgrading older road bikes if you want to stick with the old-style freewheel. Rear hub spacing is 126 mm, will usually fit OK in 120 frames too.
Note:These are quite good for being stock wheelsets with straight gauge spokes, and they will give good service for most riders/applications.
Heavier riders and those carrying heavy loads, for instance touring cyclists, are likely to find they need higher quality custom-built wheels.
Note: Our machine-built wheels are a tremendous value. Many are priced less than what the individual components would cost. Machine-built wheels are not tensioned and trued to the level of custom hand-built wheels.
I'd like to add information to my previous review. The components are of decent quality. Like other machine built wheels, however, these may need some work to adjust the spokes to proper tension in order to have stable long-term wheels. Although I took advantage of the online offer to have this done at the time of purchase, my rear wheel needed retensioning and truing after approx 300 commuting miles. I suspect these wheels were built without any type of spoke prep which still should be fine. This is a nice wheelset but if you don't have the ability to fine tune wheels yourself, I suggest having your LBS do that for you rather than paying for this service up-front.

Comments:
I recently purchased this wheelset to upgrade an old 70s road bike to use as a occasional commuter/in-town bike. I couldn't be happier. The CR-18 rims are generally well regarded in the biking community but the hubs on these wheels are nicer than expected (bearing adjustment wasn't even neccesary). Spokes look to be DT as well. Well done.
