I use this product for night rides but especially for those early morning and dusk rides as well. This light is bright enough to allow you to be noticed even when the sun is still coming down.
I think it's great that LED technology has allowed a generator light like this to give us bike riders the ability to see and be seen. It outshines even battery-powered lights. From my perspective, it seems that battery powered lights include flashing functions in order to make up for their weaker intensity.
Build quality is good on this light. The plastic feels quite dense and solid. The switch is on the rear and integrated with the shape of the body (it's a twist/rotary design). Switch feel is semi-tight (not super tight nor loose).
I wish they made the mount sleeker, more aero-looking, or whatever. But they did make the mount out of real metal and I am glad they did.
The standlight in my opinion ends the debate of whether this generator-powered light is more practical than a comparable battery-powered light. When you stop at a traffic signal or stop sign, this light stays at full intensity for a few seconds, then drops in intensity (to the same level as some cheapo battery lights I've seen) for about 2-4 minutes. So basically you still have a light even when you are not pedaling/moving. Add that to the list that includes, "no need to change batteries" and you are set.
So get this light, install a generator and bike safe!
