It is generally good practice to replace the chain when you replace the freewheel.
We recommend the SRAM PC-870 chain for use with this freewheel.
This freewheel will index with any Shimano-type 7-speed shifter.
This freewheel uses the Park FR-1 extractor.

I use these freewheels to upgrade old 6 speed downtube shifted bikes to 7 speed flat bar bikes which usually gives them lower gears with the 28T and a much more serviceable bike. They have very smooth low friction bearings in them which belie their low cost. How these can be built for what they cost is amazing to me. Trying to convert these bikes to 8,9, 10 sp is much more complicated and expensive so this is the way to go. Watch for chain rub in high gear as Sheldon notes.
