This very nicely made bushing set allows you to mount a modern threaded cartridge bottom bracket unit in a frame made for the old-style "Ashtabula" one-piece cranks.
This saves weight, improves shifting, and allows the use of modern clipless pedals.
Be the first kid on your block to put a Dura-Ace crankset into your Schwinn Varsity!
Installation Note:Press in right side (left threaded) bushing first.
Then draw in left side bushing by gradually tightening
the allen head bolts. The bolts go through the left side and screw into the right side adaptor.

I wanted to put clip on pedals on my Huffy Beach Cruiser frame. There was some welding slag on one of the tubes which prevented the adapter from pulling in tight and square so I ground it out with a small stone on a drill. After that it was an easy install. That was 3,300 miles ago and this component is bullet proof. The FrankenHuffy has a un54 BB, mtb crankset w/44 tooth running to a 17 freewheel on alloy rims, alloy stem, alloy bars, I use this bike on mild trails.

I converted my 1973 Schwinn Continental to fixed gear. The old 1 piece cranks were not built to withstand fixed gear riding. I installed this and a beautiful "All-City" crankset and now It's a dream. I'm one of the only vintage Schwinn fixies in Vancouver.

I converted my mid 60's Schwinn Corvette to a three piece crank with a sealed BB. The results were better than I anticipated. This will be the standard for all my future builds.
