I think this would work best on a bike with a dedicated plate for kickstand mounting. While the stand definitely works well, I had a hard time keeping it in adjustment with a retro-fit plate on my chainstays. In attempting to keep it from rotating, I tightened it down so hard that the dissimilar metals (steel bolt and aluminum body) galled, or chemically welded together. Then, when it rotated slightly and was hitting the pedals, I tried to remove it and it was impossible.
I would definitely recommend replacing the bolt that comes with it with a hex head bolt instead of the allen key screw, which is easy to strip out. I would also recommend using anti-seize compound (sold in little packets at the auto parts store) to keep the dissimilar metals from chemically bonding.
Other than that, the two legged design is very stable and a great boon for someone who carries a lot of stuff on the bike and doesn't want it to tip over easily.

Comments:
I bought this centre stand in Konstanz when I was touring the Bodensee in September.
I had racks fore and aft and four saddlebags and it was very hard to find things to lean the bike against.
I had the bikeshop install it.
I was amazed at how well it works, even with four loaded panniers. You can leave your bike and walk while everyone else is looking for places to park/lean theirs.
I rode around it with it for a couple of days and then added a Hebie 695 steering damper so the front end would stop flopping from side to side. Perfect solutions.
The split kickstand is great!

Almost A Necessity

Touring
Comments:
I have these on my touring bikes, both thin and ATB frames. If you ride loaded with anything or do repairs during the ride, these things are terrific. Can easily change a wheel while the bike (and load) remains upright, even true your wheels. When parked bikers stop by and ask how it works, where to get one. Only negative is keeping them fully secure to the frame on rough rides. I use those thin plastic locking straps in addition to the bolts, keeps them pulled tight onto the frame joint at the bottom bracket. Not the most elegant solution, but stays rock tight.

Comments:
I received this as a gift and installed it on my wife's Electra Townie. The addition of this stand alone has made the townie a better bike. It's get's more use than ever. The stand itself tucks beautifully out of the way and looks like a simple side stand. Using your foot to open it is a treat everytime it snaps open to reveal this sturdy bike support. I'm buying another and modifying my short wheelbase road bike to accept it. Yes, it's that good.

Add a bit of creativity for Tandem use

Cons

Best Uses
Tandems
Comments:
The aluminum body adapts well to hand machining which is required to allow cable passage on either Santana or Co-Motion bicycles. If you have a Co-Motion Speedster, throw away the bolt and plate that is supplied and purchase a number 10 cap screw, flat and lock washer. Use the plate between the chain stays to mount the kickstand to. If you are ordering your bicycle, ask to have a plate installed for mounting the kickstand to if you have a model different than a Speedster.
If you use the supplied clamp, be very careful how much pressure you use since you can easily damage most tandems by clamping it too tight. Also note that the supplied bolt is too short for most tandems and will require you to purchase a longer bolt.
The kickstand works well in all types of environments and even on sloped ground. Pushing the kickstand down into the grass makes for a bullet proof stand.

This stand is just great. You can leave your bike standing and remove either wheel without it falling over. In fact you can remove both wheels and the bike stays right there. Very functional and especially good with loaded touring bikes. I am sold.
